Today's motor Vehicles are now equipped with sophisticated and complex computerized monitoring and diagnostic systems, and complete and accurate diagnostic, service and repair information needs to be available to vehicle owners and all motor vehicle service industry sectors in order to properly, safely, and affordably diagnose problems with, maintain and repair vehicles. It has been determined that complete and accurate diagnostic, service and repair information may not presently be readily available to vehicle owners and all motor service industry sectors. Furthermore it has been determined that it is necessary to enact legislation that will assure that such accurate diagnostic service and repair information be readily available, so that the safety of the public in Massachusetts is protected and so that the public can be assured of obtaining safe and affordable diagnosis, service, and repair of their motor vehicles, and it is the purpose of this Act so to do.
AASP-MA/RI is continuing to move forward with Mass R2R legistlation in 2009. With input & support from additional Associations and Consumer Groups, AASP-MA/RI has indroduced a new and improved version of "Massachusetts Right to Repair Act" in the upcoming legistlative Session. With the ever increasing technology being introduced in today's vehicles, this legistlation is written to withstand the technology changes of today and carry us into the future!

*AN ACT GUARANTEEING CONSUMERS OWNERSHIP, PRIVACY AND ACCESS TO ALL DIAGNOSTIC, REPAIR AND SERVICE INFORMATION FOR THEIR MOTOR VEHICLES, BY ESTABLISHING A MOTOR VEHICLE OWNER’S BILL OF RIGHTS.
The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Massachusetts/Rhode Island, Inc. (AASP-MA/RI) is a chapter of the largest auto service industry association supporting Right to Repair legislation. A lot of work has already been done and we ask that you and your company support our efforts to get this bill passed in Massachusetts. We have:

• Created our communications strategy for the media
•Created our industry-wide, grassroots political strategy
